Job Summary

The Sales Manager is responsible for attainment of assigned goals tied to the overall performance of resort accounts in assigned market segments. The Sales Manager is also responsible for prospecting and closing on assigned accounts/territory to positively impact hotel revenues.

Main responsibilities:

  • Effectively attain assigned sales and revenue goals, as well as solicitation call goals, while also training/mentoring others to do the same.
  • Proactively conduct solicitation calls, conduct sales tours, and entertain clients specific to Business Travel (BT) and/or Groups, as applicable.
  • Monitor and evaluate trends within your market segment.
  • Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service-oriented manner.
  • Collaborate in the preparation, implementation, and compilation of data for the sales strategic plan, weekly and monthly sales production reports, quarterly/annual goals, group sales, marketing budget, projections, and other reports as required.
  • Adheres to established regulations, company standards, sales standards and sales metrics related.
  • Develop a full working knowledge of the operations and policies of the hotel and applicable departments.
  • Maintain strong visibility in local community and industry organizations, as applicable.
  • May assist in implementing and/or participating in special promotions relating to direct sales segments i.e. sales blitzes, etc.
  • In addition to performing essential functions, this position may require performing a combination of support duties, with the percentage of time spent on each task determined solely by the administrator based on the hotel’s specific requirements.
  • Perform any other duties as requested by management.
  • Comply with attainment of individual goals, as well as team goals and budgeted metrics.
  • Attend and/or conduct daily/weekly/monthly meetings and any other functions required by management, providing training on a rotational basis.
  • Travel, as required.

 

Minimum requirements of the position:

  • At least 2 years of progressive hotel sales experience preferred; or a 4-year college degree and at least 1 year of related experience; or a 2-year college degree and at least 2 years of related experience.
  • Must possess highly developed verbal & written communication skills to frequently negotiate, convince, sell and influence other managerial personnel, hotel guest(s) and/or corporate clients.
  • Must have thorough experience with professional selling skills: opening, probing, supporting, closing.
  • Shows strong analytical skills and strategic vision in establishing appropriate sales deployment.
  • Must be proficient in general computer knowledge especially Microsoft Office products.
  • Must be able to work independently and simultaneously manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong organization and presentation skills.
  • Requires advanced knowledge of the principles and practices within the sales/marketing/hospitality profession.
  • Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data, and basic arithmetic functions.
